Vilardo to OSU

Team Illinois U16 center Michael Vilardo committed to Ohio State. Vilardo is a late '92 birthdate that would likely join the Buckeyes in 2011. Vilardo had visited Ohio State with teammate Chris Joyaux, who also committed to the Buckeyes.

By far the best U-16 player in the country. Scary offensive skills. We wish we had him in the OHL.
The Buckeye's are lucky to have him, Congrats Michael.

"By far the best U-16 player in the oountry"

Umm... no. Not even close

Vilardo, Krug, Richardson all have one thing in common:

Eaves didn't want them. :D

5:20 P.M. who is if any is so much better than Vilardo? Just saying if your going to say something why not back it up?

8:44 I guess I read the quote wrong. I thought it meant he was the best 16 year-old in the country(which is laughable). I didn't realize it meant he was the best "Midget Minor" player in the country.
Even that is still debatable as I do think Sitler(aka the next Chris Connor) Hohman, and Laporte are all better and that's just within the 8 team elite league not the rest of the country.
I think his teammates Morbeck and Farley have more upside as well. Vilardo is clearly better than these two, but I think these two do have more potential as they're both a year younger than him and will make the major team next year.

Parks from St.Louis commits to North Dakota

villardo is prolly the best player at u16 level.hes is prolly the only player in the country to have 100 points already and can score like ovechkin, skates like the wind.sitler cannot top villardo in any way.hohman is good but not great.age at midget level dosent matter and laporte is not a good hockey player hes a good goon.morbeck and farley are not close to being as good as he is bescause they havent proved it in league or in tournaments.in the long run villardo will be a player at the next level and most of these other kids wont.

he is the best now because he is the oldest of his age group, last year when he played u16's he was barely noticeable. Still, congrats on commiting .

Vilardo is like the oldest midget minor player in the country. Any good kid his age is playing majors. Get over your self and stop posting here Mike.

haveing been a parent of a kid who played with michael i know that he is a smart kid and if he put something up here it would be all spelled correctly and the punctuation would be right. second michael isnt the oldest kid playing u16 in the counry so you should prolly scratch that.he led team illinois in points last year so you dont have your facts right that he was barley noticeable. and from what i remember a oy from chicago about 2 years ago played 2 years of minor and is no currently on the steel.he has sined with colorado college and will be drafted in the nhl every kids dream.i dont see whats wrong with a kid staying back to develop.it was smart for him. he obviously is a smart kid because he didnt wanna be the kid playing major and riding the bench like alot of 92 birth year majors.

The kid who played minors then committed to CC after playing JRs. and had proven himself on the Steel, he went from minors to JR.A, he didn't commit while a minor. He also grew five or six inches between the year of minors and jr.A. Can't teach size. No comparision.

yes comparison and heres more.nhl superstar jeremy roenick played 2 years of minor.another 2 year minor player Knisely commited to cornell and Heng commited to nebraska omaha.

if he's a '92/'93 and he's that spectacular, he should be playing MMajor; two years ago a 91 played MM and last year a 92 played MM at TI; now, both are @ NTDP; when he posts those numbers next year, then maybe brag that he might end up @ D1; it's a big mistake to inflate these kids; say he's one of the top, but c'mon "by far the best", give me a break, he's probably still a virgin.

7:29, I bet Vilardo could have played on any of the IL Major teams so it does not make him worst for playing minors.

Anonymous said...

The person with the "virgin" comment obviously has some jealousy issues...grow up

I'm pretty sure Jeremy Roenick never played Midget AAA hockey and if he did it was on only Summer teams. I'm pretty positive he spent all four years playing for a Mass. prep team.

Anonymous said...

Correct, Roenick played for Thayer Academy in Boston alongside teammate Tony Amonte for four years. Roenick might've played midget minor, but it was probably when he was 13-14 years-old. Completely different than the Vilardo situation.

He's a pretty good player but his coach/manager is rigging his stats to make him look better than he is. He is getting points that he doesn't earn nor deserve.

mike is a beast. stop all your pissin and moaning about him. your all obviously just wanting to be in his place. just because you people have and wont have anywhere to go doesnt mean you can put him down. so stop crying

nolan laporte will not play D1 NO OFFERS
Vilardo is a class act kid. Great player.
very happy for him. I know he will do great at THE OHIO STATE

Good luck Michael.

This kid is for real. I scouted their state games and he had 22pts in 5 games.
Laporte--- did not show up.

you mean he is not playing majors and they committed to him and you kids 16 playing in the ushl ad nahl without commits what a joke.

How can any school committ to a kid thats a 92 playing minors, when you have majors that are 92s and 92s playing juniors, this kid might shit his pants at juniors, andon top of that their are 2 other 92s ahead of him in scoring and a 93 something sound fishy to me.

anonymous said...

Micheal Vilardo does not even compare to some of the 92s that played majors this previous season

Anonymous said...

imagine what a kid playing in the NAHL or USHL would do in midget minor, its like a man playing with boys......something sounds fishy to me.

Vilardo Does not Compare to Sitler in any way. and people belive he Is the BEST in MWEHL/Tier 1.

Vilardo skills are good but not close enough to Sitler or Hohmann. Plus Vilardo finished 4th and hes the best out there. Either Hohmann and Sitler get a Scholarship soon or that's really weird. On top of it, It was Sitlers 1st year of AAA.

Anonymous said...

are you nuts, sitler isnt near berry if not for berry sitler would have 20 points, but none of that matters their are far better players playing juniors that deserve it more than any of them.they are playing midget minor, when all the kids are playing majors.and by the way ive seen a lot of michigan 92 players and sitler isnt even in the top 25

Anonymous said...

Yea the midget minors didn't compare this year with the 93s like it did the previous year, the 93 age group was weak in the mwehl. So it should have been real easy for 92s playing there because the top 92s were playing majors.

Mike Vilardo is crazy fast and great on offense. He needs to learn to play defense (or at least attempt it once in awhile) if he is to be considered "one of the best". I'd much rather have a hard worker that plays both ends of the ice. His TI coach never made him do that. Hopefully his new coaches will kick him in the pants and make him play defense also.
